Frequently Asked Questions
WHICH SCARS CAN YOU TREAT?
Any injury affecting all skin layers leads to the formation of a scar. From cuts in the kitchen or when doing DIY to heart surgery: the body has to form a scar in order to heal. Scarcare® is particularly well-suited for the treatment of surgical scars. Use Scarcare® after a Caesarean section, following plastic surgery and medical interventions.
WHEN SHOULD YOU BEGIN SCAR TREATMENT?
As soon as the wound has transformed into a fresh scar, the scar treatment should begin. The is the case once stitches or staples are removed. As a rule, treatment of the scar should commence after no more than three weeks. The wound should have healed and dried up and should not be open at any point.
HOW LONG DOES SCARCARE® SCAR CREAM LAST?
In contrast with other products, with Scarcare® you get 50 ml cream in every dispenser! Depending on the size of the scar this is sufficient for up to six weeks of treatment.
All you need is a thin, even layer of cream over the scar, meaning that it can be used very sparingly.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE SCARCARE® SCAR CREAM BE APPLIED?
You receive detailed instructions regarding the use of the product with every order. Essentially, Scarcare® scar cream is designed to be applied in the morning and evening, as part of your bathing routine.
FOR WHICH SCARS DO I REQUIRE THE SCARCARE® INTENSIVE PATCH?
Optimal scar treatment requires the use of the Scarcare® Intensive Patch (clothed skin areas) or the Scarcare® scar pen (unclothed skin areas). It is important to treat the scar day and night with the softening ingredients of the Scarcare® scar treatment session. We therefore recommend wearing the Scarcare® Intensive Patch all the time; or applying the Scarcare® scar pen several times daily when it comes to unclothed body parts such as the hands or face.
HOW LONG CAN THE SCARCARE® INTENSIVE PATCH BE USED FOR?
The same (identical) patch can be used for up to four weeks. The patch should be carefully removed, cleaned and placed back over the scar again in the morning and evening after applying the cream. Should the patch become contaminated, for example with sebum or sweat, it can be easily hygienically cleaned using a gentle soap or cleaning agent. The deposit of active ingredient in the Scarcare® Intensive Patch is designed for four weeks of continuous use.
THE SCARCARE® INTENSIVE PATCH ISN'T STICKING! WHAT CAN I DO?
On certain body parts (elbows, knees or even the back) the continual movement of the body results in the Scarcare® Intensive Patch falling off. In these cases it should be fixed in place using a simple sticking plaster. Any plaster, available for example in chemists or pharmacies, will do the job.
HOW DO I CLEAN THE SCARCARE® INTENSIVE PATCH?
If the Scarcare® Intensive Patch gets dirty (e.g. as a result of sweat, sebum or external contamination) it can be hygienically cleaned using gentle soap or cleaning agent. Here care should be taken to ensure that the patch is rinsed with plenty of lukewarm water after cleaning. It can then be dabbed dry with a cloth.
